I love weapon designing the most. The fewer the limitations the more crazy I enjoy going. Who says a gun has to fire bullets?

Though I don't work for Valve, it is
fun to imagine I do. Making items for TF2 is a really great way to kick back,
cut loose, and clean the art and design pallets. I have been creating and
designing video game weapons professionally since BlowOut (my first game), and
my imagination has only gotten stronger since then.
When Valve opened up to the community to make weapons and items, I jumped at the chance. Even though they don't really ask for any game play features with the items, I like to think of what I would want the item to do in game like if I was really designing them. This means I have to be fair to the game and make viable bonuses and penalties, just like they do. Once I have a theme or function it often helps me shape the look of items when modeling it. I play TF2 a lot, and have been in several tournaments. |

The Unarmed Combat - was inspired by one of my friends
who always kills me as a Spy. I really wanted an insulting weapon to beat him
senseless with.
This image is my first kill with my own weapon preserved for posterity. |
Another TF2 submission. Here I really wanted to make something that
turned the medic into a speed demon both in healing and in physical speed.

I am really proud of the Malpractice Suit since it turned the medic
into a purely healing, or a purely offensive class.

In my opinion it is not enough to just make something. You have to test it in engine to check for things
like sight occlusion, readability at a distance, etc. The Pumpkin Puncher
was part of the Halloween set I made.

This was a soldier kit I made for TF2. I wanted to play with idea of
making him more of a long range support class since I often see people play him
like that.

This is a selection of weapons I have submitted to TF2.
The Monkey Wrench was something to help the Engineer build items faster at the penalty of doing damage. This is why I gave it the extra wrench arms. The monkey look was to just go with the pun. |
